Who Built Prometheus?

Prometheus is an independent project, built and maintained by one person rather than a company or an institution.

It started from a simple gap: most carbon market simulators are closed tools that run as facilitated workshops or sit behind institutional access, so there was nowhere to simply open a market and see how it behaves. Prometheus exists to fill that gap, as something anyone can run in a browser for free. It has been in the making since late 2025.

The work draws on hands-on research into carbon market design and Indian climate policy, including India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, intensity-based market design, and the behaviour of emissions markets under different rules. That background is what keeps the simulator grounded in how these systems actually work rather than a textbook version of them.

Feedback from people who work on carbon markets is especially welcome. Prometheus is built for an audience that will scrutinise it, and that scrutiny is what makes it better.
